BAYEUX
Bayeux is, without a doubt, one of the most important places of Bessin in terms of leisure, visits and culture. It’s nearly 1,000 years since the Bayeux Tapestry, a huge woolen embroidery, has made the small town of Bessin renown.
The city does not boil down to its masterpiece : spared from the bombings of 1944, Bayeux displays an exceptional architectural heritage where craftsmanship skills have been able to express themselves with talent. The ancient capital of the “Bajocasses”, people of Gaul, can be proud of its embroidery, lace and porcelain.
Provisional capital of France during the summer of 1944 and with a rich past, the city exudes majesty while remaining modest. Small streets and mansions here seem to have abandonned all the superfluous pomp to preserve the calm and tranquility of those who take the time to linger.
CABOURG
Nicknamed the “Romantic”, Cabourg is one of those seaside resorts born in the golden age and has kept all its charms. The architecture of the early 20th century is omnipresent and perfectly preserved. The new seaside resort of Cabourg was born at the beginning of the 1860s. It was at the time a modern city that wants to attract rich Parisians, with a terrace along the sea, an important flowering, a casino and a shopping avenue. The city will be modernized again around 1907 with the construction of the Grand Hotel and the casino by the sea.
HONFLEUR
Located between two hills, on the left bank of the mouth of the Seine, Honfleur is nestled in a “green case”, as Henri de Regnier wrote. Spared by the destruction of the Second World War, the old city, with its prestigious historical past, still retains all its charm. To visit Honfleur is to dive into history, to travel back in time, in the middle of an exceptional preserved environment. The alleys, the facades with historical charm guide you in the heart of a special atmosphere. The city is called “timeless”.
DEAUVILLE
With its casino, its racetracks, its port, its marina, its convention center, its villas, its hotels and its discotheques; Deauville is one of the most famous resorts on the Côte Fleurie. This seaside resort of international renown has retained the charm of a resort town and remains a symbol of elegance and the art of living. Rich in a multitude of events and leisure, no one remains insensitive to its charm. The key word : to each season its pleasures.
LE MONT SAINT MICHEL
“Wonder of the West”, Mont-Saint-Michel stands in the heart of a huge bay invaded by the biggest tides of Europe. Inscribed on the “World Heritage” by Unesco in 1979, this tourist site today receives nearly 3.5 million visitors a year, pilgrims or simple tourists.

WALK FISHING IN NORMANDIE
Indulge in walk fishing during the summer on the Normandy coast !
If you have never tried, try this experience by taking some precautions for your safety, but also to preserve this fragile environment. All those who have had the opportunity to nibble under a pebble and discover, with shining eyes, pretty strands of bouquet that are struggling know how precious these moments of such simple happiness are. A practice in family, in small groups but never alone, it offers the possibility of discovering a particularly surprising landscape of the Normandy coasts, the foreshore, this narrow band of territory included between the level of the highest sea and that of the lowest .

HIKES
Hiking in Basse-Normandie it’s…
… At the same time a seaboard with varied coasts but also a verdant grove concealing a built, cultural and historical, exceptional heritage. An exceptional network of footpaths irrigate this region. Indeed, Basse Normandie is : 10 000 km of PR, 7000 km of GR and 8000 km of GRP which cross sometimes the beaches of fine sand of the coast of the Islands or the D-Day Landing beaches, sometimes steep cliffs of La Hague, sometimes the hilly landscapes of Boccage in Pays d’Auge and Orne, sometimes the market gardening landscapes of the Val de Saire and the west coast or the marshes of Cotentin and Bessin … So many possibilities offered to you according to your desires : long or short hikes, a few hours with the PR to several days with the GR and GRP, on ground with little difference in altitude or on the contrary more accentuated. To give just a few examples … the famous GR223 which runs along the coast of the Channel, taking most of the time the customs footpath … or again … the GR22 linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel and crossing the 3 departments.

NATURAL – COTENTIN & BESSIN MARSHES
It is above all a territory punctuated by the agricultural activities that take place there. It is a mosaic of channels and meadows that have created a special ecosystem both coastal and hedgerow. This diversity of environments explains the particular richness of the fauna and flora that you will be able to observe thanks to the facilities set up by the Parc. With the first days of spring, marshes become the reserved area of thousands of animals. But before these immense meadows are delivered to them, men and animals will gather in the communes of the Park for the ritual of putting in the marsh.
